Hello and welcome to Mountain Of The Stars! Or MOTS for short! Everyone here is happy to welcome you to this site we worked hard to create together! We hope you will be staying and joining our lovely community! We are still fairly small and busily working out the kinks and functions of everything but we are always willing to lend a helping paw.
So what do you need to know to get started?
Like anywhere, jumping into a site is always a bit difficult and your just left with the feeling of 'I have no idea where to start' so that's where this little guide will help you in getting started!
So lets make a little list on what you should probably do to help you get more comfortable.
1. Be sure to check out the Rules here on MOTS! They will help you figure out what to do and not do when roleplaying here on MOTS.
2. How about registering a account so you can properly navigate the site as well as interact with others more easily? Remember, only one account per person is needed. After that, why not Introduce Yourself in the introduction board? Tell us how you found us, about if you like the books, how far you got in the books, or how long have you been roleplaying or if you have cats of your own? Anything! We want to get to know you!
3. Skimming through the threads in the Site Information category will help you get a better idea of the world this site takes place. The History thread will give you the background of the three clans and how they were created in the first place! While The Clans thread will give you a more details about each individual clans(Lakeclan, Streamclan, and Summitclan)! Each one is unique with their own ways of governing, beliefs, and strengths! The Map will provide you a basic idea of the layout of the territories and their landmarks, while the more detail information can be found in each clan's respected boards. The Rites Of Passage are similar to Warrior Assessments and akin to the Tribes Rites of Passage, in which is when a apprentice is ready to become a warrior. Each clan has different rites for their cats so it will be good to read up on them for when you have a apprentice ready to become a warrior!
4. Now that you are more knowledgeable about the world, it's time to create your first character! The Application has the code you will be using to fill out your character. Be sure to copy and paste in a new thread created under the Pending Characters board. Then hit Preview in the lower left corner and fill out the information! Be sure to fill out the required fields and title your thread like this - Character's Name - Gender - Clan. If you are making a loner/rogue/kittypet just replace the Clan part with what they are.
5. When naming a character, be sure not to use canon names from the books. Wondering where to find what names you can used? Just go to Accepted Names then once your character is accepted, post your cat's name into Used Names so no one else takes it! Also to check up what names are already being used. If your stuck on personality traits, just look at the Traits thread to give a nice helpful list of personality positives, neutral, and negative personality traits.
6. A Staff Member will look over your application and post on it. If there any mistakes, they will point out any missing bits or errors. Once your character is accepted, the staff member will let you know and lock the thread. Then will move it to the proper sub-board.
7. After your character is approved, remember to respond to the Used Names to make that cat name yours! Also, go to Allegiances and fill out the form so your cat can be part of it! After that, you a free to roleplay your character!
8. What to do now? Well if you are still stumped, you can head over to the Plotting board to either share plots for your own cat, or jump into someone elses! Bounce off ideas and share a wonderful adventure together! That's the fun of roleplaying after all!
9. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, feel free to check out the Support board in order to check out some frequently asked questions to help answer you, or just ask the staff yourself! If you feel you need to talk any time, feel free to PM the Staff accounts Fox , sanuta , illithri and they will answer as soon as possible! Please do not PM the Admin account, it is shared by the three Admin and will be used mainly for posting updates and editing.
10. Wondering what that little diamond symbol you may have noticed? What the Store is for? Well for every post you make, you earn gems(Money)! The currency here on MOTS free to let you spend them in the store for little perks for your characters. When purchasing something, just follow what the store's instructions and a Staff member will transfer your gems and you will receive your neat perk! Gems can also be used to buy commissions for any artist/writer wishing to get their work out here on MOTS. So be sure to post a lot and make your rping experience even more fun!
11. Remember when rping, the minimum post is 100 words in order to give a full roleplaying experience.
